Power to the people!!

In a previous entry many moons ago, I wrote how I had declared war on Lambeth Council over a parking ticket I never received. Having had my original appeal turned down, I escalated it to the independant Adjudicator. The letter came back from the adjudicator today informing me that my appeal had been upheld.

YESSS!!!

I think I'll get the letter framed! Apparently it costs the council £200 every time a case goes to appeal, so if more people did it, then they might be a bit more wary about issuing incorrect penalty notices.

It's strange that the letter should arrive today of all days, as the non-ticket was issued to my company vehicle, and today was my last working day as a rat man. Obviously I had to return the van. My supervisor was very complimentary about how clean my van was. Then he looked inside and wasn't so complimentary. I'd forgotten just how much stuff had accumulated. I managed to uncover a set of jump leads that I'd forgotten I had, and (oddly) my wife's chequebook.

So now I try and make a living full time as a Driving Instructor. We've been playing "musical cars" this week. Early last week, I took delivery of a brand spanking new Corsa. The original intention was that the boss man would have that car and I would have his existing one (a 5 month old Corsa). Hand over was delayed as his resident parking permit hadn't turned up. (Parking is such a complicated issue, isn't it?). Well, the other evening, I got a frantic phone call from the boss man, telling me he'd been in an accident that had caused some wuite considerable damage to his car, so he would need to use mine and that I could still use it for lessons in the evening. This seemed OK as a temporary measure, but as it may take a while for his one to be repaired, he has now hired a temporary replacement for me. It's a Peugot 206, black, with air conditioning.

I'll make the most of it while it lasts as I've probably only got it for a week, then it's back to the Corsa.
