In October last year, I started attending the church I'm at now. Somewhere at the beginning of Advent, I "came out" to the Vicar and told her that I'm a Reader. Since then, lots of meetings have taken place. Lots of phone calls and emails have been exchanged with both the vicar and the Diocesan Registrar of Readers. I think the Bishop must have got involved somewhere along the line too, as he's the one with the ultimate authority to say yes or no.
Tomorrow, I'm to be officially welcomed as Reader in my new(ish) parish. Cassock, surplice and scarf are all clean and pressed and ready to go.
In some ways, it's all a bit daunting. The church is very different from the one I used to go to. Then again, I love it there. As I've said several times in previous entires, I really, truly believe that God has put me where He wants me.
Please pray for me tomorrow morning as I take up my new ministry. I'll check back in tomorrow. Who knows? There may even be some pics to show you as well.
