The holidays are over

And don't I know it. After six weeks of traffic free bliss and lessons running to time, the schools are now back. All the people who had been out of London are now back in London. The back streets near the schools are clogged up with dirty great 4x4s delivering delicate little youngsters to school. (Why can't the little buggers walk or get the bus like I used to?) What amazes me about 4x4s is that a lot of them are the size of a small lorry. Small lorries are usually driven by people who have been trained to drive them. 4x4 drivers have an ordinary car licence and don't seem to realise that driving a massive Sherman Tank lookalike with enormous wheels is very different from driving the Mini Metro they passed their driving test in. Not many lorry drivers would choose to drive their trucks up a very narrow street, but the mothers driving 4x4s insist on trying to fit a quart into a pint pot in order to get their precious little ducklings to school.

Coupled with all of that was the London tube strike which meant that there have been more cars on the roads than usual. Every lesson in the last two days has over run due to traffic congestion.

Not that I mind too much. Normally, I would mind, but my new car was delivered on Monday. I have to say that the new Corsa is a great improvement on the old. It's a great car to drive. Even The Beloved (who hates driving) had to admit she quite enjoyed driving it. It's considerably larger than the old shape and, from an instructor's point of view, great in the passenger seat as I have loads of leg room.

Pics may follow if I get around to taking any.
