Nearly finished

We've now reached the point where this blog starts running paralell with itself, so there's not too much to add as most of it was recorded at the time.

After a pretty depressing year, 2007 started off pretty well. In the first week, I sat the ADI PArt 1 yet again and passed. Just over a month later, I went for Part 2 and passed, enabling me to apply for the "pink badge" so that I could work while preparing for Part 3.

Towards the end of the previous year, we had found a new church where we settled in very quickly. At thge start of 2007, I started talking seriously with the Vicar about renewing my licence as a Reader. On the 7th Sunday of Easter, it was made official and preached my first sermon there a couple of weeks later.

Meanwhile, things were doing well in the world of Instructing. Having spent some time training with an excellent ADI trainer, in June I took the PArt 3 test which I passed

All in all, things are going welll. I'm enjoyiong work, and I consider it a privilege to be part of the ministry team in a wonderful church, which is pretty much how I started this series back in November last year. It's taken longer than I'd intended but I'm glad I did it.

So, having looked back over nearly eight years, now I must start looking forward.

After a slow start to the year, work is picking up again. (This business is always quiet in January). I'm currently doing a training course on Liturgy. Assuming I complete all the essays and pass the practical examination, I get to go to Lambeth Palace to get my certificate from the Archbishop of Canterbury himself! Since renewing my Readers licence I've got back into the swing of things beyond my own parish. I'll soon start back on the Vocations Roadshows (see previous blog entries from around 2003) and I've been invited to be part of the Vocational Guidance Unit - a body of peole who help people explore their vocations before comitting themselves for training. I may also soon be helping out as a volunteer "Day Chaplain" at Southwark Cathedral.

Exciting times indeed! So what of the blog? Well, I renamed it "The Road from Nowhere" back in 2006 when things hadn't been going well, but seemed to be looking up. I think the tilte is now redundant, so I'll be restarting again soo with a new title. I don't know what it will be yet, but will probably have some sort of Driving theme to it.

Watch this space.
