here are times when words and thoughts are so hard to find. the Holy Joes communion at Greenbelt 2004 was one of those times for me - I have tried to pin my grief and my peace to paper, so that I can possibly understand it.

the image that particulally struck me during the 2 hours of “drop in” communion (i sat through the whole of it as a venue manager) was a family, a mummy and a daddy and a little baby. the daddy wass playing with the little baby, and hugging it, and holding it. the service was about abuse.

daddy hold your child
as words of grief scroll by
and empty words of comfort
assult my failing heart

daddy hold your child
and listen to her laugh
as next to you an grieving girl
takes broken bread and prays

daddy hold your child
and long for the hope you hug
as the lost ones all look on and cry
for love that you display

Daddy hold your child
and listen to the prayers
and in a moments silent peace
show a glimpse of freedom bound

During the service I knelt next to 2 people from the ship. We shared communion. Broken Bread, and wine out poured. It was a sacred moment...
