Go to the Science Festival at the Hunterian Museum (in Glasgow University grounds). It's free, fantastic and kept me, the bamphires and the grandparents engrossed all day (no mean feat!) It was on yesterday and will also be on the 9th and 16th June. They have animal handling sessions (scorpion, stick insects, millipedes, snake...), an 'alien landscape' show, 'madlab' where you make an electronic circuit, and much more, including a room full of tables with logic puzzles, and fun/messy experiments using numbers. And a table of k'nex and another of technic lego. The bamphires are already asking to go again next week, and I am concerned about getting husband away from the latter. There was also a really good show about the 'science behind the circus'. Much juggling, and discussion of gravity. Not as dull as it sounds, he did a really good job of keeping everyone from the smallest (in a pushchair) to the oldest (Grandad?) listening. He also said this was the very first science festival and if we'd enjoyed it, tell your mp, your friends, your school, everyone you know.
We enjoyed it. Did that come across?
