Yesterday, R was walking along a circular bench. D decided to follow her. He made it round twice without incident, then fell off and landed on his chin on the concrete floor. Blood everywhere, from his top gum. It looks like (somehow) the bottom teeth went outside his top teeth, and into his gum. Eek. He calmed down after a bit, but it started bleeding in the evening, which settled down after judicious use of calgel and calpol...
Today out shopping, I was at the checkout, D was in the trolley, and R wandered to the automatic door, and was 'closing it' (pushing it as it shut by itself). Then when she got bored of this, she decided to sit on the low barrier (which is there to protect people's feet from being squished by the door) and lean against the (now open) door. This was all fine, but then I turned around and she was standing on it, and the door was shut. Not so good. I ordered her to get down or she'd get hurt. Which of course she did. Someone came along and the door opened, and R got slightly wedged behind it. Varying responses.
Man who caused the door to open - 'you brought it on yourself'
Woman helping to free R (she was nearer) - 'Charming man!'
Security guard (I could see it in her face) - I did try to tell her
R - 'Waaaaaaaaaah! The indignity of being proved wrong!'
Me - 'Now maybe you'll listen when I tell you to do something 'NOW!''
I was more sympathetic than it appears...
This morning I got woken by R needing the toilet. On the way out, she points out the most enormous wolf spider I have seen outside our shed, calmly sitting in the bath. I sent her back to bed, fetched my glasses, and some newspaper to squish it with, but when I got back to the bathroom, it had disappeared. I checked everywhere in the bathroom to no avail. The current assumption is that it went back out of the open window. If I find it, the whole of the city will know...
I have just been interrupted by R screaming from the back garden - she was halfway down the steps after playing in her sandpit. She couldn't come any further due to 'a great big spider there on that step there there there!'. After this morning I was taking no chances in bare feet, so I minutely checked all steps between me and her, but only found one small one, hiding in the corner, so lifted her down and in the house to safety. (phew!)
Needless to say, I am now looking very carefully in corners for spiders lurking..
