Just got back from an aborted wander around the local shops.

We bought both bamphires some new shoes a few days ago; both are growing at a truly alarming rate. D is a size 10, and R a 12 1/2! This probably means a growth spurt is on the way - more trousers and long sleeves needed.

Anyway, we went out earlier, D wearing his new shoes, when Husband said 'those shoes look enormous on him!' I glanced and said 'yes they do don't they - he probably hasn't done them up properly'. but when I bent down to re-fasten them, I noticed they were indeed huge - and a size 13.5! There followed a potentially heated discussion over how on earth we managed to get shoes for him that were 3 sizes too big and for the girl in Clarks not to notice either! We resigned ourselves to having to get more new school shoes for him by monday and continued on our way. When we got to Adams we had a quick look for shoes and Husband noticed the ones he had on were very worn, so we couldn't have got them from Clarks. The plot thickened. We knew he hadn't been to any parties at soft play areas where shoes could be exchanged, so quizzed both of them on whether they had taken their shoes off in the garden this morning, but D was wearing wellies.

Hmm. It turned out that when they had gone to play at a neighbours house 3 days ago, D took his shoes off. and walked off with his friends. They look the same, just bigger. So we got them back, but it would have caused great confusion in their house on Monday when they wondered at just how much their son's feet had grown in two weeks!

New Year's Resolution - first time in my life I'm writing one down - to blog more often.
