I want a piano. It's beautiful - just the right size for my room, a gentle tone which makes even a poor pianist like me sound acceptable, the right colour, complete with matching adjustable stool, and by coincidence virtually identical to the beloved piano I had as a child. I can't afford it, but I want it. Very badly. I have to phone her by tomorrow lunchtime to say yay or nay. I want it. AAAAaaaggggggghhhhh!
The piano tuner thinks it would be a good buy... just needs a bit of TLC with the vacuum cleaner on the inside. The surface is virtually unscathed. Tiddles so wants us to have a piano. Never mind Tiddles, I so want us to have a piano. With a piano I would get pleasure in playing it, whereas the organ is just there to practise the hymns on for Sunday.
And it would make Arti feel better about her glasses, which is a good deed in itself. But then, as Euty says, who would *move* the piano. Euty, dearest, I need a good strong man. Are you busy this weekend?
The day has gone well overall... and a near disaster at bedtime was averted. Tiddles was so tired after the weekend, and so desperate to go to Scouts despite it, that a massive tantrum loomed. He just couldn't control his reactions at all when he "discovered" he'd "accidentally" lost his homework sheet for maths. He demanded to be taken home so he could go to bed, and when I started to say I couldn't leave a six year old at Beavers while I took his brother home, he leapt in after the words "Six-year-old" taking offence that I thought he was six. It took a bit of determination to leave him in the car and walk into the supermarket cafe, concentrating hard on my cup of coffee and fancy doughnut and sitting with my back to the window which would show me whether he was trashing the car as threatened or calming down. Miraculously he calmed down and was able to go along with me when I praised him for his decision to go to bed for an early night instead of going to Scouts.
Smudgelet remembered to take his plants to Beavers. He was well impressed that he had a more interesting seed tray than his fellow Beavers. Not everyone had, in addition to the two types of seeds planted, three patches of moss and three mushrooms!
Dad came round tonight and brought his video of Calendar Girls for us to watch together. I managed to hide the fact I'd seen it before, and actually thoroughly enjoyed watching it with him. It's a lovely film, even if the Hollywood bit is a bit far fetched.
Thinking of that, it was lovely to see Sophs blush at the weekend. Part of the gift to me from the WightMeeters (in addition to a bear smelling of chocolate!!!) was a photo frame into which I am to put a portrait of the Smudgelets taken by Sophs especially for me. She got the two of them to pose in their best Sunday clothes.. well, almost. Smudgelet had lost his tie, of course, and Tiddles had spilled egg yolk down the front of his shirt (but luckily the tie covered it quite convincingly), and they had to be sent to the toilets first to wash their faces. I asked her whether she had done a head and shoulders shot or whether it had been full-length and she said it was the latter, so I suggested she might like to re-take the shot.... and get the boys to fasten their flies first!!!! It was a beautiful moment.
Now, one last dose of cough mixture and I'm off to bed.
I want a piano.
