I am the proud owner of one sixth of a piano! Yes, I did my mad dash to the owner's home to part with a deposit. She really is a lovely old lady, and so brave in making all the preparations alone for her move into a nursing home while she still feels capable of doing so. She's going to continue to home the piano for me for as long as I want her to - i.e until I find someone willing to move it for me, Eutychus! - and has even invited me to take the children round and play it if I wish. She's very lonely, so I might just do that. In return I have told her that she must come round for a coffee once the piano is in situ and see its new home.
I have a piano! :D I am ridiculously excited and longing to tell the whole world of my investment. Now to sell the organ to make room for the piano. My piano.
Fortunately M arrived to take me out for coffee this morning, which stopped me getting so excited that I'd accidentally tell my father about my purchase. (I am saving that news for just the right moment). We went to the garden centre in search of a fuscia bush, and indulged in coffee and scones and a right old natter. She was telling me how, just like with me, the boys couldn't leave her alone for a minute while they were staying with her at the weekend and each time she'd turned around she'd trodden on one! An experience I know all too well. They had dogged her every move in the kitchen as she prepared the scrambled egg...... although they got a bit of a shock when they got a little too near the pan and the butter spat at them. They were determined to "help", despite her protestations. They then informed her that they needed to learn how to make these things so that when they were grown up they could teach their children in turn..... and then leave them to do all the cooking!
Hmmm.... if she teaches my Smudgelets to make scrambled egg, they can make the tea while I play the piano. :-D
