Well, what a day, and it isn't half over yet. All dilemmas of things needing doing simultaneously. Still, at least the dishes were clean this morning, and the boys had enough socks.
Tiddles was off on a school trip. Due to meticulous preparatory planning, I had ordered the food for his packed lunch from Tesco. Of course, I had failed to register in my tiny brain that the delivery from Tesco would arrive AFTER he had left to catch his bus. Going round to the shops to provide him with lunch before he left at 8 was to be a nightmare, especially as I had to ring the doctor's at 8.30, be at M's house at 8.30 and put the bins out at 8.30. I also had to be at MW's house at some point in the morning to sort out her TV, have a bath and wash my hair, and be home between the hours of 10 and 12 (and not in the bath) to receive the Tesco delivery.
Fortunately, I had the key to Dad's and access to his breadbin and fruit bowl. Tiddles went off with a scratch lunch which should keep him going... while I eat the fresh rolls and fruit and special biscuits for tea! I delegated the bins to the Smudgelets while I made the lunch - and amazingly they performed this complicated task without a hitch, all bags properly fastened and put out without the usual trail of rubbish down the drive. I forced myself not to take my book with me into the bathroom, then dashed up to M's to borrow her printer to print out Smudgelet's birthday invitations. Naturally it wasn't as simple as that, as her version of Publisher differed from mine and I had to do some major readjustments to my brilliant design.
Thence to MW's to fix her telly which had apparently gone all snowy since I fitted the video machine for her. She was well embarrassed when she discovered that it was simply because she'd unplugged the video machine to plug in a lamp. I told her - tongue firmly in cheek - that any time she wanted someone to flick a switch for her, not to hesitate to ask!
Mad dash home to meet Mr Tesco - fortunately early, to have coffee with Dad, to wash my hair and get properly dressed, to make dad's lunch. The friend I'm meeting for my lunch phoned to ask if it'd be convenient to meet an hour earlier - not a chance of it! Shame really, but this life of leisure is decidedly jam-packed at present.
There are three jobs I fancy in the local paper. Shame they're all just as stressful as teaching, and still full time.
