Spring Cleaning

I solved the "shoving everything in a binbag" problem - I asked Dad if my visitor could sleep there :D Ah, you see, I'm not just a pretty face. It served a double purpose because it helped Dad not feel excluded while I was busy touring the Island and going out for meals, as one does when one has a visitor. So, now I have three weeks before I need to be ready for the next lot of visitors so I have plenty of procrastination time.

Having said that, I have been busy sorting out the caravan. No, not in anticipation of a holiday. I don't own a holiday caravan. No, this is my place of work, my "classroom". I have decided to implement my "grand plan" and organise every single piece of paper in the room into a relevant file. I should, by the time I've finished, be able to put my hand on exactly the worksheet or planning sheet I want within seconds by going to the right section of the appropriate file. I am determined to have my grand plan in action by.. well.. er.... let's say by the time I retire! But already the place is looking far more workplacelike and organised. I won't know what's hit me next year. I have declared my intention of having all my planning and photocopying for the term done in advance... even my marking done before the children actually do the work.

In the bedroom I hear the sounds of the Smudgelets doing their own tidying. Hmmm... I wonder how long until there's bloodshed? It's hard leaving them to sort out their own arguments, but it's the only way really. There's not much sign of improvement in the state of their room. No wonder they can never find anything. Wish I set them a better example, mind.

The best news of the week is that Dad's finally bought his mobility scooter. It's a zappy little thing - I can't wait to have a go! Here's hoping it'll bring a new sense of independence to him for a while. Certainly he had the ladies all gathered round to admire his new motor. But then he decided that maybe he'd better not take it out on the pavements until he's got some insurance, seeing as he was showing off to our neighbour how easy it was to drive and promptly drove over her foot! He's sitting for me tonight while I go to aquafit, but he really doesn't feel up to it. Oh dear.. maybe I ought to leave early ;)

School is nearly over. Only one day to go! A bit of a nightmare day, unfortunately, as I am babysitting the ones who didn't want to or weren't allowed to go on the trip to the leisure centre for the day... but the knowledge that at the end of the day I'll walk out and go home for six weeks should see me through! It was really strange saying goodbye to some of the kids I've taught for three years today, when they've still got three days of school left. I'll miss them, actually. And it was quite nice that several of them said they'd miss me... although that may not precisely have been a compliment.
