It will be a great indication to you of how good a meal we've had at church tonight if I tell you that when my friend M and I won a box of Maltesers and a candle as prizes in two competitions, we were arguing over which of us wanted... the candle! I couldn't have faced a single Malteser, and that's saying something!
I should like to say a word of utter admiration for a catering committee who can cook a three course meal with all the trimmings and serve it piping hot to an assembled crowd of over forty so that all are able to eat simultaneously... in a kitchen with just one ancient stove and barely enough room for two people to work side by side.
However, if you're a preacher reading this, may I respectfully say that Saturday evening, at a church meal, is NOT the time to tell tomorrow's organist that you want two totally new tunes played at the morning service and you have them with you now! I am now sitting here looking at where my piano is tucked away behind a load of relocated clutter and I am definitely feeling too replete to do anything whatsoever about it.
