I've just remembered I've been tagged - what on earth can I tell you about me?
1) I have viewed the Red Funnel Ferry from underneath the hull while it was sailing... rather close for comfort.. and only afterwards realised how close I came to death.
2) I actually planned to adopt two girls and it was my social worker (God bless her) who saw through me better than I could myself and said "Smudgie, why do you keep asking for girls when you really want boys?" and she was right.
3) I always wanted to be a professional translator and was infuriated that the careers advisors at school kept pushing me into teaching. I trained in translation and at one point was deemed fairly fluent in German, French, Latin, Dutch, and Turkish, with some knowledge of other languages. I had such good recall of vocabulary that I was known as "The Smudgie Dictionary" on my course - I can now barely put a sentence together in German or French, my Latin is severely limited, I can say "Father Christmas has a white horse and rides from roof to roof" in Dutch and "Two red apples" in Turkish. Rusty isn't the word for it!
4) I was kissed by Steven Leese during our Country Dancing lesson when I was seven. He was my first and only boyfriend. Since then I have fallen in love with the man who married my best friend, and been fallen in love with by four totally unsuitable men. Smudgelet has promised to marry me when he's old enough :D
5) My most unusual holiday was a trip to stay with my penfriend in East Germany before the wall came down.
