I spotted this quiz on Ed m's blog and just couldn't resist indulging my morbid curiosity. The resulting tombstone was scarily accurate!!! This is after yet another day of the war of attrition combined with another incredible day of teaching Year Five. How on earth can fifteen nine-year-olds manage to get through five years of education, including one lesson per week of ICT at our school since September, and still take 2/3 of a half hour lesson just to log on? I'd taken them to the computer room because I just couldn't face trying to teach them anything, and ended up tearing my hair out in there.
Think they're working tag-team with my kids at home?
Oh yes, and my Dad. Despite being really poorly this morning, as soon as the occupational therapist came to do her final assessment before handing his case over to the hospice (as better placed to support him) he turned to "show off" mode. She was impressed with his progress at gaining mobility, but was rather horrified to realise he was trying to walk without any aids, especially as he suddenly tires and then finds himself some distance from the crutches or zimmer. She impressed upon him that he must be strict with himself and ensure he always has his walking aids at hand, to prevent any risk of him falling. He made all the right noises, but made a point of NOT doing as she said... even deliberately walking out to the front door, down the steps and along the drive to see her to her car... and struggling every step of the way. It was the first time he'd done the steps unaided. Wally! There's no fool like an old fool.
Hooray for five days away.
