Pause for breath

Pah - for days I've wished I had the lack of conscience to take a day off sick to get on with the cleaning/sorting/ironing/marking that has accumulated in my life and what happens? I get a migrainey-tensionheadachy thing that gets me a day off work but I'm too sleepy to do anything. It's a miracle I didn't drown in the bath!!!! Mind you, after two hours' sleep, the water was pretty chilly!!!

My sister is coming today. Hooray hooray hooray. I spent a lovely evening last night talking to her on the phone and trying to help her remember which way to turn the tap on a catheter bag to turn it off! :) I have written out in detail the arrangements for looking after Dad but I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll be doing that bit this weekend - but she'll be in training for doing it "solo" while I'm away. It's daunting for both of us - the instructions are all so complicated and in the past Dad's been able to help because he's always been pretty on top of how his medicines etc work and what the routine is. Now he's finding it difficult to keep track of what day it is and needs his tablets explained to him afresh each time he takes them. (Oh, I do hope the hospice will agree with me that he needs a brain scan fairly urgently).

Training for Walk the Wight is.. er.. well... I mean... there have to be occasions when you stop and admire the view, surely? Tonight I should be able to go swimming, though, as my sister is here to keep an eye on Dad. Sadly tomorrow's aquafit is off because of a trip to the hospital to see the cancer specialist. But in the meantime I am working on energy-boosting: if one ginger biscuit is good for that, then half a packet must be fantastic, surely? I should be bounding along :D

Right, Napoleon... attack that kitchen and subdue the errant washing up!
