I have two options for part of my escape-break and I am dithering between them.
I have a different two options for a separate part of my escape-break and I am dithering between them.
Whoever would have thought that destressing would be so.. well... stressful?

So I am going to put it to you, dear wib-readers, to advise this poor befuddled jelly of a woman and help me make my mind up.

Dilemma the first: Because the spa couldn't fit me in on the days I wanted, I find myself having to make the journey up to Leicestershire on the actual first day of my break, delivering the Smudgelets to a friend in Southampton en route. (She, the angel, is conveying them hence to auntie J's and solving one part of the nightmare for me - for which she may judge herself destined for heaven at my recommendation :) ). There is not, of course, a ferry at the right time of day. Option one is to catch the 6.50 am ferry and meet my friend at the docks. This is a fairly humane time in the morning to leave Smudgie Towers but will leave me with a mad dash up the motorway and, most probably, a late arrival which could be quite a stressful start to the break. Option two is to deliver the Smudgelets direct to the Angel and drive hence at a leisurely rate with time to stop for coffee en route if the traffic isn't too bad. This would be the preferred option if it weren't for the fact that the ferry leaves at... gulp.... 5.30 am. We can, of course, have breakfast on the ferry and the hour's journey would allow time for a nap too, but it'd still mean getting up at 4.45 at the latest. So is it best to arrive tired or stressed? And is it wise to dump the Smudgelets on my sister when they're already tired? (*suppresses evil snigger)

Dilemma the second: Due to the change of date, I have lost £25 on my Travelodge booking and also lost the chance to make a cheap alternative booking. So when I leave the spa on the Thursday late afternoon, I need somewhere to sleep before going to the retreat on Friday. Option one is to spend a fortune on a hotel room - looks like being about £45 before I even consider buying breakfast! This is a huge amount of money. Option two is to go to the retreat house a day early which would be considerably less expensive but would mean that I have only one night of being antisocial and totally alone - which I long for. Option three, which I'd forgotten, is to go and stay with two good friends and my goddaughters which would be free and a delight to see them again, but would mean me going miles out of my way and sleeping on a put-me-up bed on the floor and would mean I end up talking about problems again instead of forgetting them. Hmmmm

Memo to self: next time you see a poster advertising a really good afternoon out taking place on Saturday 11th, make sure you check which month.

Memo to self: next time you suggest to the Smudgelets that they can earn some holiday spending money by getting up the leaves from the garden, remember to warn them that you will dock their pay every time they leave the front or back door wide open or if they trample soil all over the carpet. That way you'll be quids in!
