I knew about the butt really, but pretended ignorance on the part of the mother doesn't half increase the fun of the son (hmm... does this mean I was the butt of his joke?) . The things I do for my boys! (Where's the rolleyes smilie?)

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. You're a real humdinger of a blessing! Our need for prayer is ongoing, though today in particular we really need God's gifts of strength, courage, wisdom and comfort. I'll beat that big black stress monster's catapult yet! When Dad was so ill, my head teacher asked me how I could keep my faith when I was going through so much. But the answer now is the same as then - how could I get through so much if I didn't have God to carry me through it! Mind you, I wish there were easier ways to cement our relationship :)

The degree of upheaval here is such that today I find myself doing Smudgelet's homework for him! The teachers wouldn't mind if he doesn't do it, but it's "starting a new school" homework such as designing and making covers for all his exercise books and doing some internet research and writing it up so that he has some prior knowledge of the topic they're going to study and he's going to feel that he stands out like a sore thumb if he doesn't do it, so good old mum is going back to school - covering books and learning all about Rousseau, Descartes and Mercury so that she can give her son a potted version when he gets home from school. You can test me later!
