Mercury

Excuse me, Ms Rosamundi. You know full well I won't see your comment because I am not frittering my life away on the computer, I am getting on with the housework. (Actually, I was doing so, remarkably well, until the post arrived)

Well, contrary to Google's assumption that I was interested in Mercury, the newspaper which seems to be widely available in various forms right round the world, we are actually researching mercury the metal, in a form that the Smudgelet can use and understand.

If anyone is searching for a means of procrastination which would prove valuable to me, perhaps you'd like to do some homework.

* Find our two or three uses of mercury.
* For each use, find out why mercury was chosen for the job.
* List any dangers of using mercury
* What do people do to stay safe if using mercury?
* What problems does mercury cause in the environment?
*When you have gathered your information, produce a leaflet or poster display to explain to people at a household waste recycling centre why things that contain mercury need to be placed in a special area.

Remember that the Smudgelet is 11 and of just above average ability in Science and English, but currently very easily distracted. Also that I don't approve of actually doing his homework for him... except that this is quite a big piece of homework. I will judge your posters and leaflets and the best will win a prize :D

Now, if you don't mind, I have some procrastination of my own to do.
