Australian birthday

This evening I shall be celebrating my Australian birthday.

Well, I believe that birthdays, mine in particular, ought to stretch from the beginning of that date to the end of it! OK, so it's just an excuse to justify opening my presents early. You see, I won't have time tomorrow as we're off abroad, packing our passports (funny that, this time we really are, as we'll be visiting Tiddles as well and have to take photo ID) and venturing off over the waters at silly o'clock in the morning. So tonight we're going round to Honorary Auntie M's for a full-flung birthday tea and present opening celebration.

Tomorrow's treat will be a surprise for Smudgelet. Good weather needed. We're off to Longleat to see the lions. And the giraffes. And the monkeys. Must remember to get the seal replaced on my windscreen this morning before we go to see the monkeys, or we might be seeing them from slightly closer quarters than I'd really like!
Then we drive on to an expensive hotel (I'm worth it. Oh, OK, maybe it's because I couldn't find a cheaper one) to spend the night close enough to Tiddles' new accommodation so that we can go to church in the morning and then visit him straight after lunch.

In preparation for Smudgelet's first ever experience of prison visiting, we have been practising. I am now expert at being a sniffer dog! He still has not quite got over having fits of the giggles when searched, however. I can see us causing quite a riot on Sunday.

My sister has gone home now and my brother is arriving next Wednesday or Thursday so, apart from our voyage overseas, I will be having a few days by myself at home. I am quite happy with that.

But for now my to-do list will keep me busy. Get windscreen seal fixed. Take sick note in to work. Pack for the weekend. Ring the counsellor that's been recommended for Smudgelet at long last. Get dressed. Drink coffee. Which one first, I wonder.
