Isle of White

Like the rest of the world, I think it is now time for me to post my photos of the snow. Er... trouble is, I blinked and missed it!
We managed a day and a bit of deep deep snow - there must have been all of 3mm of it. Needless to say, the Island ground to a standstill with schools closed and buses cancelled. The Smudgelet was delighted to be unable to get to his school, even though his school stayed open for business throughout the day. I was less delighted seeing as it put paid to my planned visit to the spa.
The Smudgelet made a snowman in the front garden on Monday night. He called me out to see it - it took some finding but eventually I tracked it down - it was hiding behind the cat!

The Smudgelet's strained smile is because I just couldn't keep a straight face when I finally saw his snowman was only 30cm tall. It was just so unexpected. He was, sadly, hurt, which was a shame because I think it was a fantastic snowman. Just.... er.... compact!

Perfect in every detail

By Wednesday the snow was seriously melting, and by yesterday you'd never have believed it had ever snowed at all. Sad, in a way.

Eldest son's school was closed too - he rang me full of glee that he had no education today because the snow's stopped staff getting to the prison. The Smudgelet was unimpressed - he thought it unfair that the mean staff wouldn't let his brother go out and build snowmen. The brother in question was rather pleased to get a lie in instead.
