Deep? and crisp? and even?

Well, we've got the deepest snow I've seen for a while. The Smudgelet this morning was delighted at the prospect of school being cancelled. But sadly I had to break it to him that 2mm was hardly enough to bring the whole island grinding to a halt.

Actually, knowing the Isle of Wight (Isle of White?), it is actually enough to bring the whole island grinding to a halt, but we are tough North-Island emigrants, we can cope with wading through deep snowdrifts during adverse weather conditions such as these.

Deep and crisp and even

I wish it weren't snowing, mind, as the car is out of action again and this afternoon I am having to borrow Honorary Auntie M's car to take the Smudgelet to his dentist's appointment at the other end of the Island (note the extremely long distance we have to travel to get to the dentist). Due to the appalling lack of NHS dentists on the Island, I know that if I cancel this appointment then we'll have another three month wait before there is another available slot. Not that the Smudgelet would mind! And due to the appalling bus service on the Island, I would have to take the Smudgelet out of school for the afternoon if we wanted to travel to Ventnor by bus!
