It poured and poured with rain last night.
Walking round to the back of the house to get the rubbish bag to put out for the binmen (sorry, refuse collectors.. or is there an even PC-er name now? Community hygiene operatives?) was like going for a paddle in a stream. My new path and wall make a very effective retaining area for rainwater- could make a good swimming pool as long as you don't mind swimming in a straight line. And this all despite drainage being built in.
As a result - of the heavy rains, not of my drainage being put in - the roads this morning on my drive to work (to deliver new sick note) were deep in water, almost to the extent of fords. But the morning sun came out and shone brightly and the air was fresh and bright.
So I was rather delighted to find that, as I drove along the country road to the forest, as each car coming towards me drove through a deep puddle, causing a spray of water to fly into the air, the sunlight caught the droplets and made vivid momentary rainbows again and again and again. It was all I could do to concentrate on my driving :D
