Self indulgent splurge, part two

Heading home from the spa with the knowledge of a house in total disarray awaiting me at home did not exactly fill me with joyous anticipation. The kitchen is in a state because we overslept so the boy didn't do his daily chore of unloading and loading the dishwasher. The dining room is in a state because all the Christmas decorations are in there awaiting sorting and boxing and returning to the loft. The spare bedroom is in a state because I shoved everything in there again before Christmas. And the lounge is in a state because I am slowly but surely going through every drawer and cupboard and pile of papers in the hope of finding a single, lost, out-of-date bank statement which will prove to Southern Water what I know for a fact - that we DID pay Dad's last water bill a year and a half ago.

So the only place of peace and tranquility at the moment is the loo!

But when I opened the front door and peeped reluctantly inside, what should I find but that the postman has been and brought me a present. A present from me to me. A really rather self indulgent present from me to me.

I decided last week that if I am going to motivate myself to go to the gym after my final assessment with the instructor, I needed a little relief from listening to "Are we human or are we hamsters?" over and over again as I pound the treadmill. I mean, one form of physical torture is surely enough, without augmenting it with auditory torture as well. So seeing everyone else with the tell-tale wires going from pocket to earlobe, I thought it was about time I joined the portable music world - and I discovered that for only a fraction more I could have something that would allow me to watch some of my favourite TV programmes from the comfort of my bed too, courtesy of BBC i-player. So here it is, mummy's new toy. Don't tell the Smudgelet - he's far too keen on messing about with things and has caused endless trouble with my computer, so this little baby will be strictly out of bounds.
