So here I sit, all alone. Sad, isn't it? The boys are fast asleep in their room, Party in the Park is playing away on the TV, and I am wiblogging and very very slowly bumping up my posts on Ship of Fools. It could be worse.. I could still be ironing (aaaaaaaghhhhhhh... the ironing pile is still on my bed!!!!)
I am not particularly bothered about the New Year bit of it, although it would have been nice to be able to go to the party I usually go to. I don't go in for all this looking back and making resolutions as I tend to think you can do that any time. There are things I would like to do differently, but I don't plan to try that as of tomorrow, just to work on it steadily as I go along.
Had my hair done today. It was a bit daunting as my regular hairdresser has moved away. She's the one to whom I could just say "Oh, do something with it, will you?" and feel fairly confident that I would be safe. The new one was very nice, though. I felt a bit robbed, actually, as they didn't have time to do the massage that they usually do while the conditioner is doing its bit. The hairdresser suggested some changes to my hairstyle which sounded really quite good, and as it all took shape I was really quite pleased with it. It's a lot "younger" than I am used to, but nice. The Smudgelets were with me, playing cars by the reception desk, and as the hairdresser was applying the hairspray to finish it off, I heard this "not-exactly-whispered" conversation.....
Smudgelet : Look, that lady is messing up Mummy's hair.
Tiddles: It's OK.. they have to do that first. She'll do it properly in a minute!
Strange mystery in the kitchen this morning. The cats had left a present in the wash basket. (Oh bliss). The weird thing was, it was a pile of feathers and half a mouse. Most odd.
Well impressed with the bookshop today. Went to get a book for a friend and couldn't find it on the shelves. I asked the assistant, and she said "I think we have sold out, I'm sorry. Would you like my copy?" and forthwith went to the shelf behind her and took out the brand new copy she had put by. I felt a bit guilty, but I suppose it will be easier for her to get another copy than for me.
Right, time for a Bucks Fizz without the fizz :-) Hope the new year brings peace and contentment, challenge and blessing, and an appreciation of all that's good. God bless.
