Didn't get to work this morning. Driving out of the drive I had a pain in my side, and then in my back, and then again in my side as I drove into the forest, and I decided to do a three point turn and come straight home before I drove into a tree. Luckily my lessons were quite well planned in advance so it didn't take many minutes to ring in sick and tell them what to do with my little loves.
Quite nice to be at home on a lovely day like today. The windows are all open - and no, I don't just mean Ship of Fools, MSN and the Wibsite, I mean the ones that let fresh air and birdsong into the home. I'm listening to a really nice CD, I've chatted with friends, and in between trips to the smallest room and twinges of "ouch" around various parts of my body, I've managed to potter around and get some housework done. Even the smell of Jif cleaning cream is enough to make you feel as though your home is cleaner.
Surprise parcel in the post this morning. Added to the brightness of the day. Then a conversation with someone choosing flowers to send their mum prompted me to send my sisters each a bouquet for the weekend. It's a lovely feeling, these random acts of kindness - just doing something nice on impulse.
I restarted a letter today. I am my own worst enemy. If I wrote a short letter and got it in the post straight away, I wouldn't be here three months later feeling that I owe him a "proper" long letter. Silly really - I love writing letters, he loves getting letters, he loves writing letters, I love getting letter. Why not get more organised and write more often?
The daffs are beginning to fade in the garden, though they've been gorgeous. The carnations in the vase look beautiful though...or they will when I remember to take that dead one out.
Lovely moment this morning. When I am lying in the bath, the Smudgelets in the kitchen think I can't hear their conversations. Smudgelet is already anticipating his birthday and asked Tiddles what a birthday actually is. Listening to Tiddles explain the facts of life was.. interesting ;-) I obviously didn't explain them quite as well as I thought. The best bit was "The doctor cuts a hole in the mummy, then he gives the mummy the cutter to hold while he gets the baby out. Then he puts the baby on a tray and sews the mummy up again"
Excellent reading this morning. Bible Study was postponed but will take place tonight, which I am greatly looking forward to.
Now, to ring my sister and get her to ring my Dad and suggest he takes the Smudgelets shopping on Saturday... as a surprise, of course. They usually go to a workshop at the church for Mother's Day and make me loads of lovely presents - much nicer than bought things - but this year it's been cancelled. Typical! Still, the love and hugs and kisses will be enough for me.
