So much for the blitz

Well, I was intending to do a blitz on the house this weekend, but didn't get very far.

Yesterday morning I did a few bits and bobs, and got on a bit with a mammoth letter I am writing. It's typical, the longer I leave writing to him, the more I have to tell him and the more I feel I need to write a longer letter to make up for the long wait. But the longer letter I try to write, the longer he has to wait for it. Meanwhile, what does the sneaky so and so do? He writes to me again!

I also did some ringing round for the WightMeet. I am starting to wish I had never thought of that. Seriously. Tied in with the fact that the much-loved friends whom I wanted to be Smudgelet's godparents can't (don't want to?) make it either. The baptism isn't a big deal, just a small affair, but it's the linking of his life and mine - almost like a marriage, and the closest I'll ever get to celebrating something like that. It hurts. Oh well. The important ones will be there :D

I had a mammoth shopping spree yesterday afternoon while Smudgelet was at a birthday party. Great fun - I spent a fortune! Sadly I couldn't get them new ties or new waistcoats, which was my planned bit of indulgence, as these things seem impossible to find anywhere. I got new duvets, though, and perfect presents for my Goddaughter's birthday, and a shelf for the mountains of videos which accumulate on the lounge floor.

And a mobile phone for Dad. Now comes the fun of teaching him to use it. I tried to teach him to use mine the other day, without a great deal of success. He finally managed to phone my sister and then stood talking for ages at 30p a minute !!! he then wanted to know what to do if someone rang him on it, and would you believe I couldn't for the life of me remember? I had to phone a friend and get them to ring back to jog my memory!!!

Today's cleaning was foiled by a problem with Dad's stove. I couldn't understand it. He had taken the rings off to clean them, and they wouldn't fit back on. Not at all. No matter what we did, they are clearly too big for the fittings. We even got the instruction book out, to no avail. They are now sitting on top of the stove awaiting inspiration.

Then, of course, Tiddles decided to have a tantrum. Great!

I managed to make the video stand, though, while waiting for him to calm down, and very nice it looks too. I may invest in another one to match, seeing as we seem to have rather a lot of videos. (OK, so a trip to the car boot sale might be in order)

It's been a bit of a tearful weekend, too, after a txt message which hurt somewhat. Funny how difficult it is to shrug things off sometimes. But it's wonderful having friends who will listen and care and talk till the small hours of the morning.

One the other hand, I think I may have a bunch of flowers on its way. I wonder if he'll still send them once he's sober!!! ;-) Must remember to keep a vase empty, just in case :-D.

Embarrassing moment of the weekend... nay, of at least the month! : Well, mid afternoon yesterday I was feeling pretty miserable so I decided to soak away my troubles in a nice hot bubble bath. It was out of routine, so when I got out I realised I had forgotten to take my dressing gown in with me. The towel was too small to wrap round my great expanse, so I slipped the top layer of clothes back on, intending to change later. I then ended up all of a bustle with the children and forgot. I lay down for a nap on the sofa, loosening the button on my jeans as you do, and was woken by a ring at the door. You guessed it. I ran to the door to let in Mr Utterly Gorgeous Tesco Man and suddenly realised I was in serious danger of losing my dignity!!! I had to shuffle to the kitchen, frantically holding up said jeans, as he carried in the shopping, then hurriedly make a few adjustments in a panic while he went back to the van to get the next load. Thank goodness I managed in time or I'd never have been able to order my groceries from Tesco again!

Oh, and the good news - my contract at work has been extended and the Head said some really nice things about the work I do with my trusty band of rogues. I do love working there - just dont quite know why!
