Aromatherapy

They reckon certain smells and aromas can increase your get up and go. Well, I have found one that certainly increases mine. My cat has wind! I accidentally locked him in the lounge for a couple of hours this morning and now that I've freed him (and he's run outside with his legs crossed) the smell in here definitely makes me want to get up and go.. somewhere, anywhere else! I suppose I should count myself lucky it's only the smell I have to deal with!

I've just got in from bathing my dad. It's quite special, actually, this time we spend together now twice a week. Amazing how physically caring for someone can bring you closer. He has had to admit his limitations and give in graciously to being helped instead of lashing out in his anger at his own frailty, and it has made helping him a pleasure. We have a good laugh together too, as I usually end up wetter than he does. This time off from work is making it easier, as I am not worrying about leaving the boys while I do it, or the hundred and one other tasks awaiting me which generally lead to me getting frustrated by how slowly he moves now. It's been suggested that I start looking into getting an attendance allowance which might enable me to take some time off school once I'm back full time so I can care for him properly. Here's hoping.

The added bonus this morning was that, while I was over at his house cleaning him, the cleaner was here making my home pristine. Ok, so to make it pristine would be a gargantuan task, but making it somewhat pristiner. Flylady would be proud of my sink! I felt virtuous, though, as I put the dishwasher and the washing machine on, so I'd done my bit too. :-)

Right, time for a little snack, methinks. Anyone for caramel shortbread?
