Hmmm.... I rather like this new-found ability to keep on top of things all of a sudden.
Since last I blogged this place has been a hive of activity. I phoned Social Services and had a long talk with a very helpful lady about the support available for Dad. Now all I have to do is get his go-ahead to apply for an attendance allowance. Excellent! And what's more, as things get harder, I can have a free "daddy-sitting" service and respite weeks too, if he does come to live with us.
Then I turned the water off and tried phase two of sorting out the toilet. It just won't stop flushing! If phase two doesn't work, I can see I am going to have to replace the syphon and flap valve. Impressed?
Then I turned my attention to the cupboard door which Tiddles snapped off its hinges in a tantrum. This is now all mended and the toys are once again out of sight, out of mind!
Next step, a quick whizz round the door hinges with the WD40 to stop them creaking when I am trying to creep up on the boys and catch them being naughty!
But now I have met a full stop. I was all set to do the tap. It's the one in the bathroom, the one which refuses to let any water out at all - a bit of a bind really when it's the hot tap and you're trying to get two grubby boys clean. I am all armed with wrenches and screwdrivers and replacement washers and the like and almost know what I'm doing. But what stops me? I can't turn the blooming gate valve to stop the hot water gushing out of the tank. It just will not shift in either direction. My friendly plumber friend tells me to use brute force... but where am I going to get a brute from at this time of day?
