I have been well and truly pampered. This is the life! I was taken for a ride in a limousine, feet up on the back seat while eldest son peeled grapes for me and massaged my hands. OK, so the limousine was actually the sofa, and Smudgelet was in the easy chair driving, but the thought was there. We went to America, of course, with the limo changing into an aeroplane without me having to move an inch. Such luxury.
I was determined to have a lie in for Mothers' Day so I allowed myself until 7.. and then regretted it because I spent the next hour hustling the boys to get them out in time for swimming.
I enjoyed the service this morning. Pat and I combined for the music and played on piano and accordion instead of Pat playing the organ. All that was missing was M on his tambourine. The sermon and the children's address, delivered by a good friend who's a local preacher and occasionally is planned for our church, were really easy to listen to and yet spoke very deeply to many, including me. We nearly got locked in, actually, as she and I stayed talking long after the end of the service. I got my little bunch of flowers, and managed to pinch one for my sister and for my friend M as well.
Then home for the grand present giving ceremony. Dad came close to spoiling it, sadly, but the boys had a lovely time giving me their "surprises". You know, I can't imagine what my sister meant about the presents. I love my plastic African Violet from Smudgelet, I really do... and it will probably live far longer than the lovely purple primula from Tiddles. I was given the hand-made pot (held together with sellotape) with its filling of home-made coconut ice. (I won't even think for a moment that I hope he washed his hands before he made the latter) and I am trying to think of the best place to hang the big plastic butterfly wind chime. Seriously, I am delighted. I do love my boys.
Why on earth didn't I have the common sense, however, to do Tiddles' Literacy homework with him on Saturday instead of trying to tackle it this afternoon. Bad timing. Still, we made friends again by bedtime.
