Morning of the 5th day

Come on people, at least I didn't eat the little frogs! Okay, moving on from the 'interesting' food stuffs.

I almost got caught up in some sort of blackjack gambling scam yesterday morning. Oh, how fun adventures can be. I went with my new Thai friend to her house for a cooked Thai breakfast, this is where the father tried to teach me how to play blackjack. Even though he shuffled the cards, he ALWAYS knew what the next card would be and what I had in my hand. I'm not sure how he did it but it was interesting. He then started to produce large wads of American dollars which he said I could use as 'capital' playing against his friend to win him and I some money. He had tried to explain to me that if he did this particular thing I knew what cards he had in his hand. If he told me to take a card, I was to take a card and vice versa. I said I didn't feel comfortable doing that and made a fairly hasty exit. I didn't feel threatened in anyway, just a tad gullible maybe.

I took a taxi to the Chatuchak Markets (there are some good photos of the markets at the link). It really was a huge area of markets, some 15,000 stalls over 35 acres. I'm sure I only scratched the surface with my shopping. Mind you, I'm trying not to accumulate things because I still have 17 months or so of my trip.

I then caught the very efficient (and cheap) Skytrain back to my hotel.

From there I went down to the river (via skytrain) to catch a boat ride to some of the famous temples. Having gotten there however, I found I hadn't taken enough money so I will go this afternoon. Hopefully I will catch some of the lotus flower ceremony which is apparently happening tonight along the river.
