This is almost as strange as the time I was offered a singing lesson while in Dublin by a conductor of the Vienna Boys Choir (after he heard me sing in the congregation at evensong):
I was in one of those fancy designer shops waiting for my friend to try on a shirt. I was humming. The shop assistant stopped and asked me to hum louder but I was a bit embarrassed by then. After some talking, my friend and I put a shirt on hold and left the shop.
When we went back later to get the shirt, the lady begged us to sing her something. She turned down the music in the shop and my friend pulled out a duet that she had in her bag (we had just been to choir rehearsal) and sang some of it for her.
She then told us that it was her mother's 90th birthday coming and up and she wanted to do something really special and asked us if we would be interested in singing. She told us "we would pay you, of course". My friend, thinking it would pay for her shirt, was pretty keen and I always like a bit of extra pocket money. It was an odd experience though. I guess it shows that you have to be open to opportunities because we could have easily said "no".
She took out phone numbers and we will see if anything comes of it.
