What do you buy an Ambassador for Christmas?

Since I last posted, I managed to pick up some full-time temp work at the New Zealand Embassy. It certainly helps my dwindling budget to be earning in euros. The office staff are really lovely and even though (at the time) I had only worked there for 2 days, I was still invited to the work Christmas party (for which the ambassador's chef was cooking)! Not only that but they had arranged for a Secret Santa present for me!

They have been interviewing for the position I am temping in but have not yet found the right candidate so I may be in the position a bit longer. I really like the job and everybody has been so accepting and encouraging. On to a really good bit - today the Ambassador invited me to the Residence for Christmas lunch so that I would not be by myself on the day. How nice is that? Here comes the tough question - what should I take? Some flowers? A small gift? I can't go empty handed.

On a completely different note, I sang in Nine Lessons in Carols on the weekend. It was the most amazing and powerful carols service that I have ever been to. One of my highlights was playing the castenets in the Spanish Carol 'Riu Riu Chu'. So fun!
