Sunday's Sermon

Wow.

The sermon on Sunday was by author Anne de Graaf and it was on her experiences in Africa with AIDS orphans and her book which is about child soldiers. You feel that you know about the statistics (although I am not sure I knew there are about 16 million AIDS orphans - the population of the Netherlands) and some of the horror but to hear it talked about by someone that has been there, seen it, talked to people and then written a book is quite something else.

It was the most powerful and overwhelming sermon. I was only just holding it together until Anne started to get a bit teary, then I completely lost it.

After her sermon, the choir was expected to sing the anthem but with half the choir in tears it was a rather difficult and emotional thing to do.

It makes me want to go to Ghana tomorrow.
