Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year??

February... surely not too late to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year?? I feel very slack.....

A quick catch up:

- Snow. Yes, it has been snowing alot here. Although it didn't snow on Christmas day, it was still lingering around so it was at least a 'white Christmas' in some respects. It did warm up for a little while (and by that, I mean it topped 8 degrees!) but it was briefly snowing again this morning as I walked to the train station. I don't mind the snow but the novelty does wear off when all the footpaths turn into icy death traps.

- Holidays. The boy and I got away just after Christmas to a cute little National Trust cottage called Whitegates. We almost got snowed in on the last day but managed to drive/slide away and get back to London as planned. I do have the most beautiful photos of the cottage in the snow so I should dig them out sometime. Unfortunately neither he nor I could work out how to light the coal fire so we had to have every heater (that we could find) on for most of the time. It was just nice to get away from work and from busy, busy London.

- Work. I started back at work (with the Vodafone grant) in mid-January and that will continue until mid-March. It's been rather stressful and extremely busy. There are only two employed staff members and one of them has been off sick since December. The other doesn't work on Mondays and works from home on Wednesdays so it's been hectic but I do enjoy having so much work to do because I'm never bored and I feel really useful (which was the whole point of the Vodafone grant anyway!). When this finishes, I will not only have to decide what I'm doing (keep this job - if it's an option, find something else or take up V&A internship etc), I will also need to find somewhere to live for a few months. Anyone got a spare room in London somewhere? I'm really lovely.... honestly!

- Church. I've tried a couple of churches in Stevenage but none of them were really right for me. Most of my judging comes from how friendly the parishioners are and I think I hit the jackpot yesterday at a place about a 20 minutes walk from where I live now. I must try and lower my singing voice though because I was approached by a few parishioners, one chorister and even the organist, all commenting on my voice! I had a nice cup of tea with them and even agreed to give the choir a go. It was a nice service and the people seem lovely.

- Singing. Didn't do too much over Christmas, just a charity concert in a cathedral. Most exciting though is that rehearsals start with the BBC Symphony Chorus for the Proms soon. I do hope I'm around for them.....

So yes, things are a bit up in the air at the moment. Must find a place to stay in order to keep my job/internship and keep singing......
