Work Placements

I've been accepted for work placement at two very exciting museums (in my opinion). I have to complete work experience for my Post Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies so I thought I would aim high and apply at places where I would love to work.

As blogged about previously, I'll be doing a 3 month placement at the Imperial War Museum on the UK National Inventory for War Memorials project.

Most recently I've been accepted at the Victoria and Albert Museum. What excites me most is that the placement is in the Furniture, Textiles and Fashion section! That is right up my alley.

I am very fortunate to have a friend who owns a house just outside of London who is willing to rent it to me for a bargain price (about 250 pounds for 3 months). I'm not sure I'd be able to do the placements otherwise. I'm also applying for a Travel Grant through my University so if that works out I'll be happy, happy, happy!

I've also been offered a place at Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings and a tentative one (depending on whether they get a particular project) at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. I'm not sure I can fit them all in though.

I leave on the 13th of September.

P.S. I did manage to get a photo when my work colleague came back so I hope to post that soon.
