This Saturday evening I am modelling in a fashion parade (!!) I'm not exactly what you would call model material but my 'duties' for this event seem to have grown and grown. First of all I was asked to sing something (backed by their chamber orchestra) in a dress that the designer was going to make. That sounded fun, so I agreed. Next, I was asked if I would mind having my hair and makeup done (seriously, who doesn't like being pampered??). I then found out that we are having 'Marie-Antoinette-style" hair which should be interesting.... maybe something like this?

marie-antoinette

and full costume makeup!

Next thing I know, I'm modelling the dress that she has made me AND three other ones!

The dress she has made for me, which I get to keep, is orange satin, gathered under the bustline (a bit like a greek goddess dress) with uneven panels of chiffon flowing from it. It's rather nice but it feels a little unfinished at the moment. I'm also modelling a wedding dress complete with crinoline, a beautiful corset (with the wedding skirt) and a blue silk cocktail dress. It's all rather haute couture so it should be fun because I don't often (if ever?) get to wear clothes like that. I'm actually quite looking forward to it.

[aside: Thanks everyone for your kind and thoughtful (and funny!) comments. You are so supportive and I feel very loved]
