Flooding

Please pray for those in Northern Ghana who have recently been affected by the floods. The first I heard about (without having a TV or radio, news travels slowly to me) was loved ones asking me if I was alright. Apparently 400,000 people are homeless in that part of Ghana. I have seen alot of rain but no flooding as yet so I consider myself very lucky. Things where I am, in the middle of Ghana, seem to be fine (although very wet and muddy from the rain).

Things continue to go really well. If I extend my ticket, a friend who is staying shorter than planned, has offered me her malaria tablets so I can continue to take them. I have consulted the airline and they think it's fine (if I pay, of course). I wonder if I can convince immigration that I want to stay for another 2 months as a tourist. Visa runs out at the end of this month as the longest you are permitted initially is 60 days. Will make the trip to immigration sometime this week and will also have to change some traveller's cheques.

Today my knuckles are a bit sore from my handwashing yesterday. Still not quite used to it and now that the kids are back at school, I am on my own. I get to pick up my traditional African dresses today so that is quite exciting. Will go and get my hair braided again and then I will feel very Ghanian.
