I have hit the home stretch. I am completing my final week in Kumasi (and therefore in the orphanage). A few children have already told me that they are going to cry when I leave on Monday so that will be very difficult.
The choir master and the pastor at church have asked me to sing a solo on Sunday. The church have made me feel so welcome and I feel so lucky to have been part of the congregation, even for this short time, so I said I would sing. I feel a little bit uncomfortable though because it is not music that I am particularly familiar with (as I usually sing classical music and this is contemporary pentecostal) and it will probably be only the second time that I have sung with a microphone. I get to practise with the musicians on Saturday so hopefully that should set my mind at ease.
A church choir friend of mine is going to escort me to Cape Coast on Monday (where the slave castles are). I will spend a few days there before heading to Accra to fly back to England.
