I attended church on Sunday at a rather unique-looking church. The Church of Holy Trinity in Berwick-upon-Tweed was built in the period of Cromwell so it has no spires:

It was a lovely traditional service with the English Hymnal. Sitting in the congregation, I heard the most beautiful soprano that I have heard in a long time. I found out later that she is the daughter of the previous vicar and sings as a professional opera singer. In regards to singing, I am going to join the choir in the time that I am here so I have my first rehearsal on Friday.

I decided that my hair seriously needed a cut since it's been neglected in the last 6 months or so and took quite a beating in Ghana. Somebody recommended the training college as a cheap place so I went there this morning. They fitted me in straight away for a style cut, blow-dry and straighten for the bargain price of.... wait for it..... 5 pounds! I'll be going back there before I leave. Maybe I'll go for a colour. I guess the good thing is that I don't really mind what they do as I know it will grow out. The teacher also checked at each step so I felt in safe hands.
