The Weekend

Was quite an eventful weekend and all-in-all it was fantastic.

Started with my dinner party on Friday night which was a great success. It ended up being rice paper rolls, then Tom Ga Kai (spelling?) soup, bean patties with sweet chilli sauce and pork and bean satay stirfry. Finished off with sticky rice with coconut cream and palm sugar. Just divine.

Saturday - went to a trivia afternoon that was held at the university. We had a table of about 9 people and managed to come equal 3rd (which after leading most of the way, was a bit of a disappointment - damn the last round being about sport!).

On Saturday night I managed to get a free ticket to a performance that my boyfriend was in called Prayer Bells. It was a rather strange but beautiful and evocative event involving chanting and humming while cantors in Greek, Hebrew and Latin sang prayers. There was also some interesting moments involving stones being banged together and as the name suggests, there was the use of bells. They were bowed, and hit together and also dipped in water as well as just being used 'normally'.

Sunday - I slept in so I missed church (that is just terrible I know, but it had been quite a big week). I then went to a lunch engagement to farewell my Aunty who is off to South America for 7 months. Then to choir rehearsal which went for 4 hours but was great fun. I am considering going to work on the conductor's farm for a little while just to get away from the city (not to mention the fact that I enjoy farm work alot).

Phew, that was it (I think). It's Monday and I have done about 4 hours work on my thesis this afternoon. Currently at the library. Back to paid work tomorrow......
