Birthday Week

It's been a fantastic (if hectic) birthday week and I'm a bit sad that it's over.

My actual birthday on Thursday was a fantastic day. I was a bit full with all the eating engagements. My Oma made me a collage (sp?). She makes these beautiful flower arrangements out of rice paper. I can't even start to comprehend how fiddly that must be but she seems to love doing it and they always sell at the exhibitions she puts them in. She did me 6 yellow/orange tulips (the same sort I brought her while she was in hospital).

From my other half I got a Leatherman Micra (a present I asked for) and the second series of Six Feet Under on DVD.

On Friday I went over to my adopted family for dinner (my partner's family while my parents live in Canada). They treat me very well and I am lucky to have them. I got a beautiful Maxwell and Williams platter and a beautiful red and black beaded handbag.

On Saturday I had my birthday afternoon tea party. I like little social experiments like that when you try and watch all your different friends intermingle. It was a great afternoon with much good food and chatter.

On Sunday I had dinner at my Uncle and Aunty's place with my cousins and other relatives. That was also fantastic (I ended up having two lamb roast meals that day after eating at my 'adopted' families place for lunch - Yum!).

I'm very happy.

Tonight: it's the renewed dinner party enthusiasm. I'm cooking for a choir buddy and her partner. Her partner is a vegetarian so I'm going to cook a potato, eggplant and pea curry accompanied by some rice and a greek salad (I love fetta). She is bringing dessert and I have a nice bottle of wine around here somewhere....
