Blood Suckers

Giving blood today was my second good Samaritan thing in two days (I found a set of keys yesterday in the carpark and drove over to security to hand them in).

Giving blood wasn't a very pleasant thing to do though.

Firstly, there was an half an hour wait which was fine, I hummed quietly to myself while reading a magazine. I then had my interview and then it was all go. One nurse gave up finding a vein and made somebody else do it. This lady then had two jabs at the one arm. It wasn't a particularly good flow so she kept fiddling with it for 15 minutes. The flow eventually stopped with about half of the bag full (they can still use it for plasma). Because the flow had stopped, the nurse couldn't get the samples she needed.

Another nurse then came to get samples out of the OTHER arm, she couldn't find a vein in there so gave me over to someone else. This lady then eventually went for a side one (they hurt more) and after some fiddling got the samples.

After 45 minutes in the chair (normally takes about 15), I felt I really deserved my chocolate milkshake and cheese and crackers afterwards.

On the upside Deeleea and I are meeting up for lunch on Sunday. I just have to think of somewhere for us to go.
