Well, thankfully, Hildegard is over.
I could feel a cold coming on all week and it finally came into its own on the morning of opening night! I just couldn't believe my timing. trying to do thesis and as a consequence, not getting much sleep didn't help matters. I dosed up on cold and flu tablets for both nights of performance and things went alright, I had a few coughs and 'ahem' moments on the second night.
On the second night Ian, bless him, drove up from Sydney to see my performance. I made him lunch which consisted of my mousakka, a salad and then for dessert, creme caramel. He made my day by bringing a cheesecake and so we had two desserts! It was a lovely afternoon and we spent it chatting, drinking tea and watching the pilot episode of Six Feet Under.
It was then time to meet up with my famous BBC script-writing friend and we had dinner together before the show.
My boyfriend (and his lovely sister) also came to see the show last night. He said that I had the best tone and pitch and that I was the best performer there, he tells me that is his unbiased opinion because he is very picky when it comes to music (His masters piano recital is tonight). I choose to believe that ;)
It was an interesting night because my boyfriend's ex-girlfriend was the other lead AND my ex-boyfriend decided to show up to flaunt his new girlfriend! All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I'm glad I did it.
I'm now going to have little break from singing while I write my thesis (just under 5 weeks to go!). Then it is on with Messiah rehearsals.
