The Group Interview

I showed up for my group interview with Myer this morning. There were 11 people there and I was the only person wearing a suit, I thought that was pretty amazing. There were 3 other interview groups today so that is alot of applicants they are seeing!

Did you know that apart from the government, Coles Myer are the largest employer in Australia? I guess it helps if you own, Coles, Myer, Target, Kmart, Officeworks, Liquorland etc etc. It wouldn't be such a bad place to work, the recruitment lady was saying that they advertise all of their positions as casual. Once you are in, you can apply for all the internal positions (they advertise internally and if they can't get anyone, they go external). The lady conducing the interview only "wanted to be a casual" and she is still working with Coles Myer, 8 years on as a full time recruitment officer.

I think I did okay. Unfortunately I sat on the end which means I was the first person to introduce myself. This involved saying who I was, what my previous experience was, where I wanted to work and something that "you didn't know about me". That was fine. Then there was this group task were you had to discuss a scenario. I managed to slip in the work "Occupational Health and Safety" so hopefully that got me a few points. I can only wait and see.

The next stage for the successful applicants is a one-on-one interview with the store you applied. Fingers crossed.
