Nice people

I left work (a two week contract at the Australian Tax Office) on my lunch break to do a few errands. I had put on my good walking shoes and had set off in the direction of the bank. Almost there and I trip on something (loose paver?) and dislocate my knee. As I haven't dislocated my knee in at least a year, it was very painful and I think I had to put it back in myself (although I can't be sure as it all happened so quickly and my immediate reaction is to put my hand to my knee).

Anyway, I landed in a crumbled heap on the sidewalk. Two people who were waiting at the traffic lights immediately turned around to help me. When the shock had passed, I tried to tell them what had happened and then I started to cry. One of the ladies offered me a tissue or hankerchief and on finding she had none, set off to the supermarket across the road to buy some for me. I almost felt I could stand by the time she had returned with a full box of tissues. I offered to pay but she kindly said "don't be silly". I pulled a tissue out, dried my tears and got them to help me stand up. The other lady then let me use her as a walking aid and took me all the way back to work which was at least 2 blocks away. I thanked her profusely but she kept on assuring me that it was "on her way". On arriving back at work, I called the first aid officer on duty who put ice on, bound it up and helped me back to my desk where I elevated it for the afternoon.

It's feeling a bit better now but I just thank God for my Good Samaritans.
