The boyfriend was going to be driving to and from Melbourne in just over a day to get to a Victorian Opera audition. The more I thought about it, the more I was worried about him driving all that way by himself (about 13-14 hours worth of driving).
I rang up my boss on Sunday and asked her ever-so-nicely whether I would be allowed Monday off and explained the situation. She told me that she didn't want me at work if I was going to be worrying so it would be best for me to go as well.
This meant that within the space of two hours, I was on the road to Melbourne. I think this worked out well for the both of us because it gave me piece of mind and he didn't have to drive all the way by himself.
As it turned out, the audition went fine (as well as he expected considering the practise he put in) but the promising thing is that he was called back in October to work with the director for a few hours. I'm sure he can impress them then! A spontaneous but exhausting road trip.
