I have just come back from an amazing experience. The Christ College Cambridge Choir (say that 10 times fast!) is in Canberra at the moment for two concerts and they were holding a choral workshop for people that were interested. It cost $10 to get into which was far cheaper than their concerts!
We sang three pieces to begin. Locus Iste by Bruckner, some Parry piece and my favourite for the day was Hosanna to the Son of David by Weelkes (what is that doing in my bag!!?? Didn't I return that photocopy?? Khehehe). We then listened to the choir sing particular bits and we worked on bits together. We then mixed with the choir and sang them to finish off the workshop. I was standing in front of two of their basses and next to one of their tenors. I really couldn't hear much of what I was doing but I managed to sight-read it all pretty well which make me proud. In that hour and a half, I think that if you couldn't sight-read, you wouldn't have gotten much out of it which is a shame.
Such a brilliant experience. I have sung with the Christ College Cambridge Choir!
