1. A thank-you card to the lady who organises the summer camp for disabled people which Spike and I help at. At the weekend she entertained 13 of us helpers (4 are also related to her!). Fortunately, she and her husband live in a seven-bedroomed 400-year old farmhouse in Sussex, so there was room for us all. We had a fantastic supper and then a lovely silly evening playing Charades (I can't quite believe I just typed 'lovely' without a roll-eyes smiley in the same sentence as Charades, but there you go). For those of us under 60 (did I mention what a mixed-age bunch we are?) there was added comedy to be had from the fact that those over 60 don't have the same opinion as we do that when indicating the number 2, it is very important whether your palm faces outwards or inwards. Childish? Us? Noooo ...

2. A 'New Baby Girl' card for my friends who have - well, you can guess. Particularly wonderful news as these friends have been married for eleven years, she has diabetes and PCOS and had resigned herself to having to make do with being 'the best Auntie in the world'. So for once I have no 'razz, frazz, why is it so easy for yoouu?' feelings, just 'woohoo'.

Can't be too long now before the first Christmas card arrives ...
