And you thought I'd forgotten...

Colours...

Were out of this world. Just amazing. Some like those we get in the UK; dark greens, pale yellows, brownish-reds. But more than that. The colours were the same, but more so. Deeper, brighter, and there were all the shades in between, bright red, fiery orange, and even pinks. All thrown in together in the most amazing display.

We drove through a couple of the national parks as we went. In the north of Cape Breton island, the Cabot trail took us through the Canadian Highlands national park. The roads wound their way through the mountains, but stayed in view of the sea most of the time, showing the wide expanse of ocean bathed in sunlight (the rain had stopped by now). The landscape of hills and valleys covered in such a variety of colours stretched into the distance.

And not only in the parks, wherever we went, along highways, through towns, the colours were just as intense, you were never away from them. And because of the areas' glacial history, there are many large inland lakes, which make for quite a sight when reflecting the trees.

It's impossible to describe. I will get some pictures up, I promise.
